Stick War

That small spike of panic when your first wave of spearmen crumbles and you have to rebuild the whole line, because the enemy catapult got one lucky hit. Stick War feels like frantic chess with stick figures, simple on the surface but a weird little twitchy microgame when things go south.

You basically gather gold with miners, buy units from a sidebar, pick upgrades, then shove your army across the map to break the enemy statue. Control is direct, units move and attack where you click, and winning is as much about timing and unit mix as it is about who has more gold.

I like how the combat is satisfying and a bit rough around the edges, not polished but it hits hard when your combo lands. If you spam one unit type you will get punished, so mix tanks, ranged, and mages. A small piece of advice, rush miners early enough so you can afford upgrades midgame, and don’t forget to use formations if you want your archers to survive.

Controls

  • Mouse: left click to select units and buildings, click on the map to move or attack, drag to select groups.
  • UI buttons: use the build panel with the mouse to create units and upgrades.
  • Hotkeys: number keys or single-letter keys spawn units and activate special powers, space often pauses the game.
