Bloons Tower Defense 4 Expansion is a goofy, colorful tower defense throwback where you plant goofy monkeys and upgrades to pop endless waves of balloons.
It feels bouncy and a little frantic, like stacking satisfying little wins while the screen fills with pinks and greens. What you basically do is pick towers, drop them on the map, buy upgrades and specials, then watch the popping chaos. There is a curve where maps get spicy and you start caring about placement way too much.
I play it because it scratches a nostalgic itch. I prefer the sniper and glue combos and I always hog a few farms early, even if that is safer than cool. Controls are simple: mostly mouse clicks to place and upgrade, drag to reposition or sell sometimes, and a couple of keyboard shortcuts if you care. Very light input.
Casual advice: focus on a balanced mix of range and damage, save for a late-game heavy hitter, and don’t scatter your income towers. The game rewards patience. It reminds me of Plants vs Zombies, Desktop Tower Defense, Bloons Tower Defense 3, and Kingdom Rush in different ways, so if you liked any of those you’ll find something here. I’ll admit I get annoyed by repeated air waves but keep coming back anyway
