Sandtrix

Sandtrix

The first screen is a thin rectangle of sand, pixels like tiny dunes, a slow wind ripple across the background and a single block waiting at the top. The UI is minimal, score in the corner, a small preview on the right and that grainy sound whenever a piece settles.

You drop shapes that look a bit like tetrominoes but made of sand. They tumble, crumble, then the grains fall and flow into gaps. Your job is to shape the pile so rows compress and clear, while avoiding crazy overhangs. Use left and right to nudge pieces, up or Z to rotate, down for soft drop and space for a fast fall. You can also click to aim if you prefer the mouse.

Playing feels oddly physical. Stuff slides, splashes into holes, and combos happen when you least expect them. It is messier than Tetris, and I like that it punishes sloppy stacking but rewards patience. Donโ€™t try to force huge combos early, make flat surfaces and funnel sand into gaps. Rotate before dropping, and give some pieces a moment to settle before you build on them.
