Yahtzee

You open the page and there it is, five chunky dice lined up on a plain scorecard, a big roll button waiting like it knows you will press it. Numbers jump, the little locks click when you hold dice, and the score boxes flash empty until you pick one. Simple and a little loud in a satisfying way.

What you do is straightforward, roll up to three times, pick which dice to hold between rolls, then mark one of the score categories. Try to fill the upper section for bonus, chase three of a kind, full house, small or large straight, and of course that glorious Yahtzee. The rhythm is just roll, decide, mark, repeat.

It feels quick and sneaky. Luck punches you in the face, then you grin when a last roll gives you a straight. I like how tense the last few boxes get, even when the game is basically chance with a dash of cleverness. You will make dumb calls sometimes, it is part of the charm.

When to stop rerolling? If you already have a decent upper score, bank what you can instead of chasing a Yahtzee every turn. And if a chance slot is still empty near the end, drop a mediocre roll there rather than wreck the upper section.
