Tentrix

Tentrix

Weirdly calming and a little frantic at the same time, like trying to tuck a sleeping octopus into a shoebox. The screen wants tidy stacks but the shapes are sulky, so you end up nudging pieces into awkward nooks and smiling when everything snaps into place. Basically you fit falling pieces into a playfield to clear lines or shapes, with a bit of a twist that makes standard stacking feel fresh again.

I like it more than most clones. Itโ€™s clever but not precious, and the little moments of panic are fun rather than punitive. Controls are simple in practice, you nudge and rotate with the keyboard or click and drag if you prefer, nothing that requires a manual to remember. Tip wise, look ahead a few pieces, donโ€™t force a cowboy fit, and bail out early rather than chasing a perfect combo. If youโ€™ve sunk time into Tetris, Puyo Puyo, Dr. Mario or Columns youโ€™ll get the hang of it faster than you expect. My bias is toward minimalist puzzles so I appreciate that Tentrix doesnโ€™t pile too many gimmicks on top.
