Pereelous

Pereelous is a roguelike strategy game that blends turn-based combat with slot machine reels. Every turn hands you a spin that decides damage, defense, healing or buffs, and you spend money and resources on rerolls while pushing through a procedural dungeon. It plays free in your browser, with no download.

Turn-Based Fights Where the Reels Decide Everything

Combat is a negotiation between your weapons and the reels. Each turn opens with one free spin, and whatever lands turns into damage, guard, healing or a buff. Want a better result and the game charges for it, because rerolls eat money and resources you were probably saving for the next shop.

Weapons set the shape of the gamble. Swords work as single target tools. Maces are the balanced, durable option. Multi-hit weapons use fewer reels but lose durability with every swing until you switch to something fresh, which keeps loadouts rotating instead of letting one favorite carry a whole run.

Nothing here rewards twitch reflexes. You read the odds, decide when a spin is good enough, and live with the result. That is where the tension sits, and it is also why losing a run rarely feels cheap.

Slots Carry the Real Power

Weapons matter, but the slot collection decides runs. Fear weakens enemies over time until their hits stop mattering. Vampire damages and heals in the same beat. Sacrifice trades your own health for extra damage. Wall stacks armor and can work toward Poison, while Fracture and Weakness degrade enemies that refuse to die.

Forges let you upgrade or merge a slot, and random events sometimes alter one outright. A single good find on an early floor can flip an entire run, so treating slots as side content is a mistake I made once and never again. Deciding what to upgrade, what to merge and what to leave behind is the real strategy layer.

Map Routes and Constant Scarcity

The dungeon map branches, and each path asks you to pick between combat, a rest, a shop or a random event. Every option carries a benefit and a price. Rests restore health but give up progress. Shops sell exactly what you need and drain the purse doing it. Random events can hand you a legendary slot or wreck careful setup in one click.

Money and resources stay tight on purpose. There is never enough to fix everything, so patience beats impulse, and planning beats reflexes. That scarcity is the part that keeps pulling me back. A good run feels earned, and a bad one usually traces back to one greedy decision.

Who Built It and Where It Runs

Pereelous is developed by Pierre Vandermaesen, and the full release arrived on Steam in October 2025. The browser edition is built with HTML5, so it runs on desktop, tablet and mobile without an install. That makes a quick run possible on whatever screen happens to be nearby.

Mouse Controls

Everything happens through the mouse, and touch screens behave the same way. Every action is a click or a tap.

  • Left click starts your free spin at the beginning of a turn.
  • Left click spends money or resources on a reroll when the reels disappoint.
  • Left click switches weapons, inspects slots and confirms forge upgrades.
  • Left click picks map nodes and answers the choices that appear during rests, shops and random events.

Menus follow the same rule, so there are no hidden keys to learn. Early floors stay approachable and late floors stay readable.
