How a Match Plays Out

Most attacks start with a simple pass or a short dribble. Defenders close in quickly, and once they get within range they will slide at your ankles, so holding the ball too long is a bad habit. Shots are the real focus. You draw a short stroke on the screen and the ball leaves your boot along that line, with the length of the drag deciding the power and the loft. Ground shots are easier to keep down, while lifted shots clear legs but hang long enough for the keeper to read. I keep blasting mine over the bar when I rush, and the game happily lets me do it.

Slide tackles from the defence arrive around the same time, which means quick passes beat slow dribbling. Between matches you can claim item boosts by watching an ad. One makes scoring shots easier, one makes your technique harder to block, and one sharpens your dribbling. I grab the scoring boost whenever it shows up, since the keeper problem only gets worse. Tournament mode strings the rounds into a bracket, so a kind draw can carry you further than you deserve.
