That tiny jolt when you suck up a cluster of purple crystals and your little ship jumps a level, engines whining as you suddenly hit harder, it always makes me smile.
Starblast.io is a top down space shooter where you fly, mine crystals, level up and buy better ships and guns at stations while other players try to blast you into bits. You basically collect crystals, survive, and upgrade so you can either solo hunt or join teams and dominate nodes. It feels frantic and a bit slippery, like skating on oil while trying to aim a laser, which makes fights chaotic but fun.
Controls
- WASD or arrow keys to move.
- Mouse to aim, left click to fire.
- Space to boost or dodge, number keys or the upgrade menu to switch ships or buy upgrades at stations.
Don’t fly into the center alone when you are low level, hang near asteroids or a station, and use boost to escape sticky fights. Upgrading your ship a little at a time is smarter than blowing all crystals on one purchase, trust me.
I like how quick rounds feel, and how a clever hit can flip a losing fight, even if matchmaking sometimes throws you into chaos with stronger players.
