That split second when your rotor clips a shipping crate and you spin into a stack of other choppers, everything going sideways, is the thing that sticks with you from Copter Io.
You pilot a tiny, twitchy helicopter across a cramped 2D map, dodging buildings, scooping up fuel and weapon pickups, and bumping into other players until someone explodes. It feels frantic and a little slippery, like steering a soda can with a propeller, which makes close fights hilarious and rage-inducing in equal measure. I like how deaths are sudden but quick to get back into, keeps you playing even after a dumb crash.
Controls are simple, use W or up arrow to thrust, A and D or left and right to tilt, space for a short boost, left click to fire if you pick up guns. Hold tight to the ground to make tight turns and don’t waste boosts chasing a kill you can probably avoid, that saves fuel.
You basically learn maps by crashing into them a lot, then start using cover and the vertical space to surprise people. If you want to last longer, grab armor and avoid the big open plazas where everyone piles up.
