Ultrakill is a free browser first-person shooter where you play a blood-powered machine blasting through demons and rival robots. You move fast, dodge incoming fire, empty a pile of weapons into whatever moves, and chase a style rank while you do it. It runs right in the browser on desktop, tablet or phone with no download.
The Setup Behind the Carnage
This fan port keeps the tone of the original Ultrakill: mankind is gone, blood is the only fuel left, and the machines are fighting over what remains. You drop into tight industrial arenas and ruined corridors with a handful of loud guns and a health bar that only refills one way. Every hit you land showers you in blood, and that blood is what keeps you standing. It sounds gross on paper and it is gross in motion, but it also pulls you forward, because backing off is never the smart option.
The Ultrakill Combat Loop
Fights are quick and loud. You circle strafe around packs of enemies, swap weapons mid-fight, and use dash and jump to slip past projectiles. The revolver and the shotgun carry alternate fire modes, so one gun covers a couple of jobs. Kills build a style meter, and the meter is the real scoreboard. Play safe and it dips, play mean and it climbs. Getting killed sends you back to the last checkpoint with barely any downtime, which turns most deaths into a reason to run the same room again with a cleaner route.
The game does not hand you much slack in the early rooms, so expect a few rough attempts before the movement clicks. Once it does, fights settle into a rhythm, and slipping past a wall of shots by a hair feels better than any reward screen.
Controls in the Web Build
On a computer the port plays with keyboard and mouse, and the canvas scales down to phone and tablet screens as well. The layout is the standard shooter one:
- WASD moves and the mouse steers the camera.
- Left click fires and right click triggers the alternate attack.
- Spacebar jumps, Shift dashes and Ctrl slides.
- The number keys or the mouse wheel swap weapons, and R reloads.
- Esc releases the cursor when you want to leave the canvas.
Click the game once before pressing anything so the canvas grabs focus, and give the loader a moment on slower connections since the whole build streams before the first room appears.
