Short Life 2

Short Life 2 is a ragdoll physics game about walking a fragile little guy through levels stuffed with blades, spikes and falling junk, and getting him out the other side with most of his limbs still attached. It plays in the browser on desktop, tablet and mobile, with no download and no install.

What the Levels Throw at You

The setup stays simple. Your guy starts on one side of a stage, the goal sits on the other side, and the space between them is a museum of awful ways to lose body parts. Swinging blades sweep across narrow walkways, spike strips line the floors, mines hide under loose crates, and heavy barrels drop from above the second you commit to a step. The game holds a 9.2 rating from 12 ratings, which feels about right for something this mean, and it arrived on 19 May 2026.

The Body Is the Only Health Bar

There is no energy meter here. Your character is the meter. Every mistake shaves off a limb, and the run ends once the damage goes too far. That sounds grim, and honestly it kind of is, but the ragdoll physics handle the comedy: a jump that looks harmless can send the poor guy flipping into a wall, while a careful walk can still finish with him folded under a crate. Levels are short, restarts are instant, and the whole loop is built around repeating the same stretch of floor until the pattern sticks in your head.

Stars reward a clean run and unlock the other characters, so slow and intact usually beats quick and messy. Some rooms ask for a crouch walk under a blade, others want a sprint and a jump on the right frame, and a few are pure trial and error until the timing clicks. Dying costs nothing, so there is no real reason to fear it. Just read the whole screen before moving, since the traps that catch people out are often the quiet ones. The game runs on HTML5 and works on desktop, tablet and mobile browsers.

Keyboard and Touch Controls

The controls are few, but they take practice, mostly because the body does not always agree with them.

  • Left arrow or A walks the hero backward, Right arrow or D walks him forward.
  • Up arrow or W makes him jump.
  • Down arrow or S crouches him low so high blades pass over his head.
  • R restarts the level on the spot.
  • Spacebar confirms the restart after a death.

On a tablet or a phone the same actions appear as touch buttons on the screen, which works fine once your thumbs learn the timing.
