You click the first monster and the screen explodes in little yellow numbers, then you click again because why not, and that tiny loop is basically the whole joke.
What you do is simple, you click enemies to hurt them, collect gold, hire and level heroes that do damage automatically, and unlock abilities and ancients that change how your damage ramps up. It feels maddeningly satisfying when numbers start stacking into the millions, and also a bit lazy because you can let it run while you do other stuff.
Controls are straightforward, left click to attack, click hero portraits or buy buttons to spend gold, use the number keys to trigger active abilities, and use the Ascend button in the menu to reset for permanent currency. I like how it’s dumb and addicting, but it gets repetitive if you try to grind every single zone without prestiging.
Don’t dump all your gold into one hero early, spread levels so your DPS curve doesn’t stall, and ascend when your progress slows to get a bunch of permanent bonuses, it speeds everything up way more than hoarding does.
