Block Blast is a free browser block puzzle game where you drag colorful shapes onto an 8×8 grid and clear full rows or columns to keep the board from filling up. It comes from Hungry Studio, the studio behind the original mobile hit, and the browser version plays instantly with no download.
The tray at the bottom always holds three pieces, and none of them can rotate. That one restriction gives every drop weight. All three pieces have to be placed before a fresh set appears, so a sloppy move can carve a hole that takes several turns to repair.
How a Round Actually Plays Out
The board starts empty. You pick a piece, drag it over the grid, and drop it wherever it fits. Fill a whole row or column and those blocks vanish, which frees space and adds points. String several clears together in one placement and the multiplier climbs fast. When none of the three pieces has room anywhere, the run ends. No timer, no lives, no rush, and the HTML5 build opens in seconds on just about any device. A quick round can quietly turn into a long session, which is the nicest compliment I can give a puzzle game.
Keeping a Board Alive
Bulky pieces end runs, so place them while the board still has open room instead of saving them for later. Keep the empty squares connected rather than scattered. A grid with one fat open region can absorb the 3×3 square or a long bar, while three lonely holes fit almost nothing. The middle deserves extra care, since that is where large shapes usually land. A square tucked in a corner is harmless, so there is no need to rush and fill it. When a placement only frees two squares and leaves a jagged mess behind, look for a tidier option.
Controls on Desktop and Touch
Everything runs through a single drag, and there is no rotation button to learn. Letting go of a piece over an occupied area simply returns it to the tray, so mistakes cost nothing.
- Left click a block in the tray, hold the button down, drag it to an open spot, then release to drop it.
- On a phone or tablet, press the piece with a finger and drag it into position.
- Nothing is timed, so you can study the board for as long as you like before placing anything.
- The game runs in a browser on desktop, tablet and mobile, with no install step at any point.
