Skip It!

Skip It! is a free browser arcade game about skimming a stone as far across the water as you can. You time the throw, pick the angle, then steer the stone left and right while it hops along the surface. It plays instantly in your browser with no download and no account.

Skip It! Gameplay Basics

Every attempt opens with a timed hold. A power bar fills while you keep the button down, and letting go inside the sweet spot launches the stone with real pace. After that the run becomes a placement puzzle, because logs and buoys float in the lane and any contact sinks the stone on the spot. Power gates wait further out and hand momentum back whenever you slip through them.

Speed fades as the stone travels. Once it slows down it touches the surface more often, which means more skips, more chances to steer, and a much easier target for anything floating ahead. Released on 2 March 2026, the game runs on HTML5 and plays in any modern browser. Its rating already sits at 9.4 from 31 votes, and the low vote count says most people are still finding it.

Reading the Water Before You Throw

Hazards are the real opponent here. Logs tend to sit in clumps and buoys bob along in loose lines, and both punish a lazy angle. A confident throw threads a gap, catches a boost gate and stretches the run, while a rushed release sends the stone straight into trouble. Learning where the clean lanes open up is most of the skill curve, and it happens fast after a dozen or so attempts.

A short throw is not wasted either. Every meter counts toward the next upgrade, so a bad run is still progress. That is the quiet hook of the game, you never leave a session with nothing, and that makes one more throw very easy to justify.

Upgrades and the Distance Loop

Total distance converts into currency once the stone stops, and the currency goes into upgrades that make later attempts start stronger. The loop is simple and it works, bank what you can, spend it, then watch the next throw reach a little further. Nothing carries over on its own, so the improvements come from how you launch and steer rather than from luck.

Controls for a Single Stick Throw

Everything runs through the mouse, and there is no keyboard involved:

  • Press and hold on the water to start charging the throw.
  • Drag downward while holding to set the launch angle.
  • Keep an eye on the power bar and release to send the stone flying.
  • Drag left or right during the flight to steer around hazards and through gates.

That is the whole control scheme. One press, one drag and one release cover the entire game, which is why it feels right at home in a browser tab during a coffee break.
