Every shape has to be placed before the tray refills, so there is no way to skip a piece and wait for a better one. Corners are the quiet danger. Fill them early and the board stays open, ignore them and the last rows become a maze of single holes. Keep the middle of the grid clear for the long bars, and try not to leave gaps that only a specific shape can fill.

Controls for Mouse and Touch

One drag at a time, and placement is final once you let go.

Left click and hold on a shape in the tray, then move the mouse to carry it over the board.
Release the button to drop the piece onto the highlighted cells.
On a phone or tablet, press a shape with one finger, slide it into position and lift the finger to place it.
There is no keyboard step, so one mouse button or one finger covers the whole game.

Hovering over the grid before you let go is the cheapest habit to build. The preview shows exactly where the piece will sit, and moving one cell over often turns a dead end into a clean line.
