Ragdoll Archers is a browser archery game where floppy stickmen fire bows at waves of enemies, and it runs free to play right in the page with no download at all. You aim, you loose an arrow, and physics decides the rest. Skulls from your kills buy upgrades. It is quick, a little chaotic, and easy to jump into.
What A Typical Run Looks Like
You start as a wobbly stickman on flat ground with a bow, a thin health bar and not much stamina. Opponents trickle in from the sides, some bare, some wrapped in armor, and now and then a giant stomps onscreen as a mini boss. Hold left click to draw the bow and steer your archer, then let go to send the arrow flying. Hit the body and the target flops over in a tangle of limbs. Miss and you have burned a bit of stamina for nothing.
Every kill drops skulls, and skulls are the only currency here. You spend them between waves on health, stamina and raw damage, so a long run slowly tilts your way. Floating apples drift across the screen as well. A red one refills health, a green one refills stamina, and the rarer golden apple tops up both at once. Chasing those apples mid fight is often the difference between a deep run and an early grave.
Building Out Your Quiver
The starter bow gets old fast, which is the whole point. You unlock more arrow types and extra arrow slots the more you play, so you can carry several at once and swap between them on the fly. Electric and poison arrows wear enemies down over time, balloon arrows launch people sideways, and the axe arrow hits like a truck. There is no single best pick. I like to keep one heavy arrow loaded for the armored guys and lean on something cheap for the small ones.
Controls, Mode By Mode
Single player runs on a mouse plus one key, and the game splits across two keyboards once a friend joins.
- Single player: hold the left mouse button to control the archer and aim, release to fire, and tap Spacebar to jump.
- Two player and PvP, Player 1: move with WASD and jump with left shift.
- Two player and PvP, Player 2: move with the arrow keys and jump with right shift.
- Phones and tablets: the same game runs on touch screens, so two people can share one device.
Playing Solo Or Against A Friend
The single player mode is a survival climb. Ericetto, the developer behind the game, first put it out for web browsers in May 2023 and brought it to Android that September. You fight until the enemies finally overwhelm you, spend skulls on upgrades, then try to push one wave deeper. Every death hands you just enough skulls for one more upgrade, which is a hard loop to walk away from.
The two player mode turns the same idea into co-op or a head to head duel, and that is where the game gets genuinely funny. Two people fluffing shots while their stickmen tumble over each other is its own kind of entertainment. Ragdoll physics carry the whole thing, since arrows, bodies and dropped weapons rarely flop the same way twice. The trick that took me longest to learn is patience. Firing the second an enemy appears usually wastes arrows, while holding the draw for half a beat lines up the headshot far more often.
