Obby: Paint and Hide in the

Obby: Paint and Hide in the mall is a casual hide and seek browser game set inside a shopping center. Each round gives you a random role, hider or seeker, and you either blend into shelves and mannequins or hunt everyone down before the 75 second timer ends. It is free and needs no install.

A Mall Full of Places to Vanish

The whole map is one big store, and every aisle has something to duck behind. Shelves, benches, mannequins and checkout counters all hide a person well if the spot is picked with care. Hiders get a short head start while the seeker waits, then the timer starts and the mall goes quiet in a strange way.

Standing in the open gets you caught. Standing behind a clothes rack in the wrong color does too, because a bright shape against a calm background reads from pretty far away. That is the problem the brush is there to solve.

Painting Yourself Into the Background

Hiders carry a brush and a good eye. Point at a wall, a product or a mannequin, press E, and the brush picks up that shade. Then left click paints your character’s clothes with it, part by part. The closer the outfit matches the thing you are hiding next to, the shorter the distance at which the seeker can spot you. A good enough match beats a perfect one you had to stand in the open to get.

Walls can be repainted too, with right click, which helps when the shade you need is missing from the shelf. A hider who freezes behind a bench in a matching jacket is genuinely hard to find, and that is the whole point.

Controls for Hiders and Seekers

  • WASD moves your character.
  • The mouse swings the camera.
  • Spacebar jumps.
  • E samples a color from walls, products and mannequins.
  • Left click paints your clothes as a hider and catches a hider as a seeker.
  • Right click repaints walls.
  • Esc releases the cursor and F1 hides the interface.
  • On a phone, a joystick sits on the left and the brush, catch, eyedropper, roller and jump buttons sit on the right.

When the Seeker Starts Walking

Seekers get tools of their own. They sweep the mall and a left click on a hider ends that chase. Once per round a hint can be earned by watching an ad, and it lights one hider up through the walls for a few seconds. The seeker still has to reach them in time, which is not simple in a place with this many corners.

Roles switch between rounds, so nobody gets stuck on one side of the hunt. Ultra games built it, and it sits at 3.5 from around 32 player ratings on Yandex Games. That score feels about right for a round based game where a random lobby of strangers can make or break the fun.

Why Obby: Paint and Hide in the mall Rewards Patience

Watching a seeker jog past your shelf while you stand there in the exact grey of the floor is the best moment this game offers, and it happens more often than you would think. Rounds are short and the timer is a hard 75 seconds, so a bad hiding spot only costs you a minute. Paint the torso first, since that is the part that shows over a shelf, and leave the legs alone until you find the spot you actually want to keep. Bolting for a new hiding place every five seconds is what gives people away; a still blocky figure in the right shade is far safer than a clever one that keeps moving. The 6+ rating makes it an easy pick for younger players, and the touch buttons are big enough to use without looking.
