Fragen

Fragen is an online first person shooter that runs right in a browser tab, with no download needed at all. You pick a game mode, grab a gun and fight solo or with a team across small battle maps. Matches are short, so it is easy to jump in for a few rounds.

I have put a decent amount of time into this one, mostly because the rounds do not drag. You spawn, you head toward the noise, and a firefight usually finds you within seconds. That loop is what keeps me coming back, even on days when my aim is nowhere near as good as I would like.

How a Fragen Match Unfolds

The game is built around online matches that you can join alone or with a squad. Team Deathmatch has both sides racing to stack up eliminations, while Free For All drops everyone into the same map with no allies at all. Stricter modes such as Gun Race, Sniper Only and Secondary Only change the rules and force a certain weapon class on everyone. You can hop between modes without leaving the game, which is handy once one playlist starts to feel stale.

Movement matters as much as shooting. Sprinting, crouching and sliding are all available, and knowing when to use each one often decides a duel before the first shot lands. Grenades are there to flush out anyone hugging the same corner, and the maps carry enough cover that a careless run across open ground rarely ends well.

Weapons, Maps and the Grind

Loadouts give you a primary and a secondary weapon, plus grenades, and swapping between them mid fight takes a single press. Rifles, shotguns and snipers all have their place, though the distances on each map should decide what you carry. Take a shotgun into a long sightline and you will feel useless for most of the round.

Maps are compact and come in a few flavors, from tight urban blocks to wider industrial stretches. Progress is a slow burn. You earn rewards as you play, and a battle pass adds skins and upgrades for anyone who sticks with it. I mostly ignore the cosmetics and focus on the fights, and that works fine for me.

There is also nothing to install. The game runs in desktop, tablet and mobile browsers, and it holds up on weaker hardware. Its rating sits at 9.3 from 150 votes where I found it, which lines up with how the matches actually feel. It arrived on 20 May 2026 and uses HTML5, so your first round is only a click away.

Controls for Desktop and Touch

Desktop controls follow the usual shooter layout, so most people can start playing without a manual:

  • WASD moves your character, and the mouse aims.
  • Left click fires, while right click zooms in for a steadier shot.
  • R reloads and Spacebar jumps.
  • 1 and 2 switch between the primary and secondary weapon, and the mouse scroll cycles through them.
  • G throws a grenade, C crouches, and holding Shift while moving makes you sprint. Sprint plus crouch gives you a slide.

On a tablet or phone the layout changes to on screen controls. A virtual stick on the left handles movement, dragging on the right side of the screen aims, and a fire button sits under your other thumb. The touch setup takes a couple of matches to click, and I still prefer a keyboard, but it does the job once you tune the sensitivity.
