Destroy House

Destroy House is a first-person demolition shooter where you fire a beam, lob grenades and hurl heavy metal balls at block-built towers until the whole thing folds in on itself. It runs free in the browser with nothing to download, on desktop, tablet or phone.

Blocky Towers Held Up by Physics

The buildings are voxel structures, and every wall, floor and rooftop is a pile of separate cubes. Nothing is a painted backdrop, so a shot that snaps a load bearing column really does bring the floors above it down. Hit high and you mostly chip the roofline. Hit low and the tower kneels over. That gap between a wasted shot and a clean collapse is what keeps this one interesting well past the first couple of stages.

Fennec Labs made it, and the build is HTML5, so it opens straight in a browser tab without an install step. The version I spent time with carries a rating of 8.9 from 81 votes, which sits about right for a game this stripped back. Desktop, tablet and mobile all run it.

How the Levels Unfold

Each stage hands you one new structure to knock flat, and the level select spells out how much variety is waiting: City Quarter, The Tower, The Bridge, Castle Siege, The Arena and Village. The early ones are forgiving and a couple of well placed hits will topple them. The later ones turn into small puzzles, with reinforced sections and support beams you have to find before the whole thing gives way.

Chain reactions are where the fun really lives. A grenade that rolls into a gap can gut a whole floor, and a beam through a corner can start a slow lean that finishes the job for you. Watch how the rubble settles after the first hit and the weak point usually shows itself.

Beams, Grenades and Metal Balls

You get more than one tool for the job. The beam slices through light blocks fast, grenades sit in a room and blast anything nearby, and the heavy metal balls are slow but carry real weight into a wall. Flipping between them mid run is normal, and the weapon switch keeps it painless. Running dry is not the problem, so trying a new angle costs nothing but time.

The payoff is loud and physical. Blocks rattle, dust puffs out of the gaps, and a good demolition ends with the tower in a heap instead of standing there mocking you.

Controls for Destroy House

  • Move with WASD or the arrow keys.
  • Shoot with left click.
  • Switch weapons with Q and E.
  • Jump with Space.
  • Hold right click to zoom in and line up a distant weak spot.

On a touchscreen the same actions sit behind a movement stick and a few on screen buttons, so a phone handles a quick session fine.
