Five Nights at Winston’s is a free point-and-click survival horror game that runs right in your browser with no download needed. You play as the night janitor at a middle school, trapped in a tiny office with a door on each side, and five erasers with marker-drawn faces want to catch you before the shift is over.
lax1dude made this one as a fan project for Five Nights at Freddy’s, and the whole setup is a parody of a school supply drawer gone wrong. There are no haunted animatronics waiting in these halls. You are hiding from office erasers, and somehow it still gets under your skin once the doors start banging and a camera feed dies in the middle of a check.
What One Shift Looks Like
A night runs from 12 AM to 6 AM, and the clock moves one hour every seventy seconds, so a clean shift takes around seven minutes. Each evening opens with a phone call that rambles about the vandalism the erasers left behind the night before. You can press the skip button and get straight to work, but it costs a fifth of your power supply. That trade tells you everything about how this game thinks. Talking is cheap, and doors are not.
Your view of the office pans left and right as you push the pointer toward the edges of the screen, with the door controls sitting low on each side wall and the light switches just above them. Clicking a door button slams the metal shutter down, and holding a light switch reveals whoever is lurking in that hallway. The camera monitor flips up when you click the strip along the bottom of the screen, and its school map lets you hop between views like the gyms, the boiler room and the main entrance.
Cameras, Doors and the Power Meter
Power is the real opponent here. The meter drops every second, and the drop gets steeper for every drain you keep active: a door sealed shut, a hallway light held on, the camera monitor up in your face. Later nights also drain a little faster on their own. Let the meter run to zero and the building goes black, the shutters roll open, and Baby Winston strolls in to end your shift early. I try to keep the usage bar short and flip the cameras up in quick bursts instead of parking on them.
Five erasers work the school, and each one has a tell. Long Arms owns the left hallway. Weird Climber Dude lurks in the gyms before rattling pipes in the boiler room on your right, and when that clanging stops he is already at the door. Laxative Dude camps the bathroom camera and charges down the hall if you stop checking on him. Baby Charles hides in a trash can and steps inside without a warning light. Baby Winston smears static over every camera he visits and is the one who collects you when the power dies.
How the Nights Get Meaner
Night one keeps only two erasers active. A third clocks in on night two, a fourth on night three, and Baby Winston joins on night four. Nights five and six simply speed everyone up. Clear those and a custom night unlocks where you set each eraser’s aggression between one and twenty, with cheat options like infinite power for players who just want to poke at the scares. Maxing every slider at twenty is the bragging rights run, and it is not for the impatient.
The Look of the Place
Every camera angle is a pre-rendered 3D shot, and the office pan uses a curved warp effect that bends the room as you sweep across it. That detail sounds tiny until you play a clone without it, because the distortion is what makes the office feel like a physical space instead of a flat picture. The eraser models are deliberately crude, and a paperclip arm reaching through a doorway still lands harder than most big budget monsters.
Controls on Mouse and Touch
Everything is handled with the mouse:
- Move the pointer to the left or right edge of the office to pan the view.
- Click a door button to close or open that door.
- Hold a light switch to check the hallway outside.
- Click the bar at the bottom of the screen to flip the camera monitor up or down.
- Click camera buttons on the map to switch feeds.
On a phone or tablet, taps and holds do the same jobs, and the game asks for one tap before it plays any sound. The main menu works with the arrow keys and Enter, and Esc backs out of popups.
