Max Speed is a free 3D arcade racing game you can play right in your browser, no download and no account. You steer a small sports car through hilly tracks packed with ramps and rival racers, flipping through the air for nitro and pushing for first place.
The cars look like glossy die-cast toys, and the tracks fold up and down like someone draped a road over a staircase. It is a toy box racer in the best sense. Handling stays simple enough to hand the keyboard to someone who never plays racing games, while the flip timing and nitro management keep it from turning mindless.
Max Speed comes from SMOKOKO LTD, the studio that built the game for phones first. It started on mobile back in 2024, and the browser version turned up in April 2026. It runs on HTML5 and WebGL, so it opens without any install and loads in a couple of seconds.
How a Race Plays Out
Racing here is arcade in every sense. The tracks are hilly, the ramps are everywhere, and your rivals will happily shove you toward the outside of a corner. Hit a ramp at the right angle and you launch into a flip. Nail the landing and the nitro bar fills, which you then burn on the straights to blow past the pack. Land badly and the car stutters, costing you the position you worked for. That gamble sits behind every jump, and it is the reason a two minute race never feels like waiting around.
What surprised me is how much the rhythm shifts between locations. One stretch is almost straight and rewards pure nitro, while the next is a chain of ramps where a single clumsy landing kills your lead. Contact is physical as well, so rivals nudge you off the ideal line and you can return the favor. Casual racing with a bit of bite.
Shiny Cars, Hilly Tracks, and Upgrades
You are not stuck with one vehicle. There is a garage full of cars, and the ones that suit the tracks best are not always the fastest. Upgrades and customization let you tune a car toward what you actually do, which is flip often, land hard and lean on nitro. Each location comes with its own challenges, and the scenery shifts enough that the courses do not blur together after a few sessions.
Controls in Max Speed
The arrow keys do double duty, steering on the ground and flipping in the air, so give yourself a few runs to build the habit:
- Arrow Left or A steers left, and becomes a barrel flip once you are airborne.
- Arrow Right or D steers right, with the same barrel flip in the air.
- Arrow Up or W pulls off a front flip.
- Arrow Down or S pulls off a back flip.
- Shift or Spacebar fires the nitro.
Save the nitro for a straight and use it the moment your wheels touch down, because burning it midair while the car is still rotating wastes most of the boost. The bar refills quickly when you keep landing tricks, so being bold pays more than being careful.
